Cheri asks
Q:"I just chopped my hair off completely and now I am growing it natural. Now my natural curl pattern is very nice but then i went to get my hair colored for some flavor. I wanted to know do you recommend me to get kinky twist to help my hair grow out? "
A: Extension styles work well as protective styles to allow hair to grow. That said, if you get kinky twists make sure to do the following to retain the growth:
- Do not get tight braids on the edge, ask the braider not to braid so tightly or find a braider others recommend who knows not to pull your edges too tightly.
- Be very sure your hair is moisturized and deep conditioned BEFORE you get the braids done then moisturized DURING your time wearing the braids. Kinky twist hair especially is very drying and and you don't want to take them down just to find you're left with wheat as new growth.
In the end, it's fine to wear the braids but I always recommend getting to know your hair as it grows out so you are more equipped to take care of it in it's longer state (unless you always plan on going to a salon).
Hope that helps and Happy Nappying!

I think you must wait for a quite year to grow you hair, but if you really want a long hair that fast, in the mean time, you can use a hair extension. Thank you for sharing this. Keep it up.
