It’s that time of year!
Glamazini’s Winter Wig Season 2011-2012!!
Excitement is in the flippin air.
If you’re new to my blog check out my Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow (Fake) category to catch up on my experiences with
additional hair. I especially love to rock pieces in the cooler months because:
- I get antsy and want to change my hair and
- I sweat so if it’s hot there is NO WAY I’m wearing a wig

Alright, here are this year’s purchases thus far:
It’s a Wig Cap Weave Human Hair Short & Sassy – Finger Roll – $31.99

Sensationnel Totally Instant Weave HZ A015 – $21.59

I grabbed both of these from mimibeautyline.com with a 20% off coupon code (sale20) so I paid a total of $48.46 for both shipping and tax included. Once I recieve both pieces, I will start filming a video for each and then finish each video as I actually wear the wig & perfect it. I have my eyes on some other wigs/weaves so stay tuned for those if I actually purchase.
Oh and last year I shared some “things I’ve learned” concerning wig-wearing, so I thought I’d reiterate with some updates:
- Research your wigs before you make a purchase.
I’m finding YouTube to be the best for this. You get to see the wig in real life, and often time get to see the inside of the cap or even get ideas on how to style it BEFORE you buy. - The wig does not always look like the photo on the package, and that’s ok.
This is why researching is imperaitive and seeing the exact wig in real life (like on YouTube) is invaluable. - You do not have to wear the wig like the photo on the package.
You wear your wigs how you want to. Be creative and make it work! Last year I took a jherri curl looking wig, picked it out and ended up LOVING IT! - Learn to blend your wigs
If not choose to wear wigs with bangs so your hairline is not showing. This also really depends on your specific hairline. I see some ladies on YouTube that seem to have “wig friendly” hairlines. My hairline is not that way. Also, I have a large head so I take that into account when deciding if I’ll have to leave hair out for comfort. - Learn your own head
I have a large head with a strange hairline. Because of that, I can’t always do what other ladies do to wear or blend the exact same wig. I know my needs and limitations and take that into account when choosing pieces. - Learn your own hair
I have a lot of hair, and honestly it’s hard to get under wigs comfortably. In past years, I’ve had my friend cornrow it down into a beehive, but this year I’m going to try to do something on my own. Stay tuned for if I actually succeed (which is important as you can tell because I picked some pretty unforgiving wigs so far).
Are you a wig wearer? What new pieces have you purchased lately? Do tell.

I am a wig wearer(and proud of it!!)
I wear them all the time because I honestly do not have the time to style my own hair (I’ve got 2 other heads of hair in the house to maintain! LOL) <—and with 3 heads of hair to keep up with, they are also very economical for me. Plus, I love the versatility and the fact that I don't have to worry about the weather conditions messing up my 'do whenever I step out the door! All of your tips above are very on-point, and I'd like to add to also invest in some nice stylish headbands if blending your own hair is a challenge(or not an option depending on real vs. wig hair texture) and to not be afraid to try different colors, textures, lengths, and styles too!
MELISASource recently posted..A Note of Thanks
Great points! I can’t rock hard head bands, they ALL give me a headache

They definitely do change a look. Thanks for commenting!
OMG the fingerwave wig, yes! I’d lovvvve to have one like that. I haven’t been wig shopping in a few years, its definitely time to look into one especially when someone didn’t twist her hair last night lol
I need to braid my own hair down to get those wigs to lay flat. I’m gonna try to do so in a couple days and post video/pictures.
