Word On the Streets …

I really appreciate all the well wishes on my Trying to Conceive post from last week (written in October 2011).  If you watched the video you know that I’m almost 17 weeks pregnant as I type this!  WOOHOO!!!  I started journaling my experience here last year then transitioned mostly to taping weekly videos.  I’ll start posting them week by week for your reading pleasure, starting with the week I found out: Week 5.

I’m pregnant.  What the hizzey?! O_O

Ok, so I’ve known for a week now (found out on Halloween), but I just sat down to write this entry. Why? Well …

1. I honestly think I’m in shock and don’t totally believe this is happened so quickly! I was gearing up for a longer hall, but apparently it took hubby and I 6-7 weeks to get pregnant. Wow.  I’ve been known to tease friends about being “Fertile Myrtle” but this is ridiculous!
2. It’s 1:24AM and I’m sitting here dressed and waiting to go to the hospital because my bestfriend/sister-in-law Q is in labor.  I’m excited BUT she doesn’t know about me yet (no one does except hubby and a couple strangers*) so it’s gonna be kinda weird to
   a. be there among the baby-ness and not say a word and
   b. see the exact same maternity ward that I’ll be in come July (unconfirmed date)

I’ve never been preggo before so this is all new to me. I thought I’d be more ESTATIC and jumping out my skin but so far I’m really calm and pensive. I also have barely any symptoms except a changed bathroom schedule (TMI), mild nausea if I don’t eat and extreme exhaustion.  Other than that it’s really hard to tell the difference between adrenal fatigue and pregnancy so I don’t notice any other symptoms if there are any *shrug*.

Oh and hubby and I have decided not to really tell anyone for a while so ya’ll might not be reading this post until January (sorry but you understand).  We want to tell my mother in person on Christmas day so everyone else will have to wait on the news.   I had my yearly pap smear on Halloween (when I found out I was preggo … but I kinda already knew), and my ultrasound is on November 17th, then my 1st preggo appointment on the 22nd. Right now it’s all about eating well, getting rest (I’m big on naps) and pre-natal vitamins.

Anyhoo … I’m gonna find a snack so I’m not starving at the hospital . Write more when the spirit hits me.

*The 1st person I told was a little ole lady on the elevator at the hospital when I found out . The other stranger was my masseause (because I went for a massage). Other than that, only hubby (and all the people at my gyne’s office).

Q had her baby and she’s beautiful!

I got to the hospital near 2AM and stayed until after 9PM.  She gave birth at 8:04AM and I was in the room (how exciting!).  I got a little weepy over the entire experience and also thinking about my baby in the same hospital (maybe the same room) next year. I want him/her to be healthy, and was so happy that Q was giving birth to a healthy little girl that I got overwhelmed when I saw her little head come out.  Thing is, no one in the room knew I was pregnant so that made is strange the entire time I was there. Trust me, from my brother-in-law’s mother, to my brother-in-law, to friends, family etc. that visited EVERYONE was on my ovaries as usual hinting about me and Adima being next having a baby or plain out asking us what we were waiting on. This happens ALL THE TIME so it wasn’t anything new, but what has been new in the past few weeks is that when they do ask I’m thinking “I’m preggo right now LOL”.

Another notable event was yesterday late AM I went to the bathroom and noticed a little spotting. I didn’t freak out or anything (mostly because by then hubby had arrived); I just got a panty liner (so I could see clearly what was going on during the day), then told hubby very discretely. The rest of the day I would feel stuff on and off but it was mostly clear. Today I don’t see anything so far, but I’m wondering if my body was thrown for a loop with the lack of sleep (I probably slept 1 good hour the entire night).  Either way, the irony that I’m in the same building with my OBGYN is not lost on me. I’m headed to the hospital in a little while to hang with the new parents and baby, so if I need to I’ll call or sneak off and just ask a nurse in my office what’s up.

Lastly, I’m definitely thinking I’ll break these entries up in to different posts. By the time I tell ya’ll come January, this thing will be hella long … but I like journaling here because it gives me somewhere to put my thoughts.

Ok I fibbed, this is lastly.  Hubby and I discussed the order and timing of when we plan on telling folks and I must say it’s kinda complicated when you think about it. I think I have it pretty nailed down who will know when, but I do think it’ll be hard to not tell the majority of folks until basically the 2nd trimester.

I’m spotting .

It started on Sunday at the hospital & happened again yesterday (Monday). It’s barely there but I figured I’d call my ObGyn. They told me to come in for blood tests today and Thursday. I’m afraid & wish someone else knew I was preggo ’cause things like this are lonely without a friend. Hubby prayed. I’ll be back.

I had my 1st craving and 1st serious wave of nausea tonight. I’m sitting here at 10:31PM eating spaghetti and meatballs (my craving) and just downed a million unsalted crackers and some warm gingerale (for the nausea). I’m feeling a bit better.
