Q:" I don't believe in putting heat on my hair because i know there is a great chance of damage that's irreversible. my question to you is if i straighten my hair with heat will i lose my curls? "
A: The answer is yes and no. Obviously the point of using heat to straighten is to loose the curls for that instance, so I'll assume that's not what you're asking. If you use too much heat or burn the strand it can permanently destroy the outer layer of your hair and fuse it straight. So yes, if you are unwise and not careful or overdo it that can happen. However, if you use low heat, do not keep the heat on the hair for long, and use a thermal protectant you can straighten the hair without permanently loosing your curl pattern. I'd also recommend doing other things to stretch and flatten the hair out before you use heat like banding or braiding. In the end I do not recommend heat and only use it on my own hair (blow drying) at max once a year. I too am afraid the napps won't snap back LOL, although I blow dry my husband's hair regularly and don't see a difference since I'm super careful.
Hope that helps and Happy Nappying!
