After posting about my hairloss on nappturality.com, one of the members suggested that I stop wearing my headwraps so tight and so often. I suppose to give my scalp room to breathe, if you will, which is a very logical suggestion if you think about it. I got a whole lot of other great suggestions which I’ve added in my Anti-Alopecia Experiment.
This particular day I picked out my hair in the shower with just conditioner. I don’t use shampoo on my hair too often and my hair is so happy because of it.* Once I had picked all the coils out (which was suprisingly easy) I towel dried my hair and then added some leave in conditioner and some oil and continued getting ready for work. Lastly, when the dripping had stopped, I picked it out once more and patted it with the palm of my hands into shape. Not bad huh? :^D
* This method is called ‘No Poo’ and I learned about it on Nappturality.com. If you are interested in learning more, here’s information about no pooing or go to the nappturality.com message board and search on ‘No Poo’.
For all those wondering, this is what the right side of my hair looked like in my afro. As you can see, it is very scalpy because of the hairloss, but it’s not horrible. If you have no clue what I’m talking about here is my hairloss story :(.
Over all I really like this look and it’s simple. I plan on getting it trimmed down just a tad very soon because I’m still finding some straight ends on my fro (and they have to go). I believe this will pretty much be my style for a long while.
Goodness, please disregard my acne *sheesh*. I just wanted to show a picture of how I’ve ‘loosened’ up my head wrapping. I barely put any pressure on my hairline any more with the scarf I use. Check out my before the Anti-Alopecia Experiment picture of a head wrap. I’m not certain if you can tell, but my wraps used to be a lot tighter.
