Fear Not

While watching Coach Carter tonight the following poem by Marianne Williamson SMACKED me in the face .

I thought I'd share:

Our Deepest Fear

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear

is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness,

that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,

talented and fabulous?

Actually who are we not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small doesn't serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking

so that other people

won't feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine as children do.

We were born to make manifest

the glory of God that is within us.

It's not just in some of us;

it's in everyone.

And when we let our own light shine,

we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,

our presence automatically liberates others.

~ Marianne Williamson

wow. wow. wow.

Hi! I learned about your sight by stumbling across one of your videos on youtube. You’re absolutely lovely! I don’t know if this is going to be TMI for a total stranger but, I’ve been feeling really deeply depressed over the past few weeks. I worked for President Obama’s campaign in Chicago for 2 years on the political team and since coming off that high and not knowing what to do next I’ve fallen so deep that I haven’t spoken to any of my friends since the inauguration. I’m telling you this because I prayed for a sign and today I find your site and your post as of 7 hours ago is one of my favorites and I think this is my sign to get up, figure it out and stop moping about. I have this post as my screen saver, on my facebook, and even my myspace. I have it every where and you know how when you see something every day in the same place, you take it for granted? Well, I think your post was meant for me and I thank you.

I hope I don’t sound like a crazy person, lol.

    Peace and Blessings, sister.

I also caught the Coach Carter flick last Thursday. I was in my bathroom looking at the mirror trying to come up with a new doo and half listening to the movie. But when I heard that uplifting poem, I ran out of my bathroom so fast…just standing in front of the tv soaking up every word that was being said. Thinking, why must I be afraid or hold back that light God has blessed me with..Its okay Keshini its okay to shine!
    God be with you!

Yes Lord, that poem speaks volumes to me!!! It was also paraphrased in the movie Akeelah and the Bee! It touches my heart and soul. And may I say that you, Roshini are the embodiment(sp) of this poem. To me, you are fufilling God’s desire by sharing your light through your worship, praise dancing, singing, blogging and YouTubing. Shine on my sister, shine on!!
