I continue to come back because as my daughter grows, I want to engage in educating myself in new ways to style her natural hair and hopefully convince her by showing her YOUR journey that she can remain natural as she matures into adulthood. I don’t have a lot of natural women around to show her, so I’m finding virtual mentors for her. You are one of them! (I’m White, she is Haitian American). So thank you for your gift to us!

Personally,I followed you for about 3 years. At first i just wanted to know someone out there had healthy natural hair and their experience. Well, hunni, you delivered. And you keep delivering. You keep your site and now blog FRESH! I watched and read about how you would change your hair just because you were bored with a style. That seems to be the way you treat us, your audience. You try to keep us interested by introducing new ideas, findings, and whatever happens else you think we might want to know. You have re-vamped your blog to included a little of everything. I have found new “Diva must-haves” because of you. You are like the Oprah of the Web. So I think the reason for your web longevity is YOU. Keep doing you. God gives everyone gifts and talents. Gifts are natural and effortless. Talents take a liitle work and practice. Continue to operate in your gift. Sorry for the book. 🙂

My draw to your site is that I feel like you’ve allowed me to know who you are, to share in your joys (Adima, vacations, VI etc) and your beautiful hair. I think if I were to ever meet you on the street you wouldn’t be creeped out by someone calling you by name and reaching for a hug, I’ve been following for about 5 yrs and I’ll be here as long as you are 🙂

I think the key to web-gevity is similar to what makes a small business flourish into a local/national/global staple. You have to remain relevant to your audience. I all but forgot what an Alta Vista was until you mentioned it in your video. I then went to see if it still even existed, and it does, but as soon as I got to the website, I instantly knew why they fell off. At the very least, the site LOOKS like it hasn’t been updated since the 90s, which to a consumer signals that they haven’t been making an effort to stay relevant to the audience that might patronize their service. Technology is ever-changing to suit the ever-changing needs and wants of people. Having stalked, ehem followed…. errr umm visited your site frequently since about 2004-ish, I’d say (even with your SUPER LONG hiatus) you’ve done a great job of keeping your site relevant to its viewers. It has addressed the needs of every stage of natural hair that I’ve been through and hope to come to soon (newly natural, mid-length, styling, grooming, etc.), plus it provides extra information/insight to the other 90% of our lives that doesn’t pertain to hair (i.e. fashion, leisure, faith, diet, etc.), and you’ve kept up with the e-Joneses by providing your “service” through different media (e.g. youtube, twitter, and just your routine blogging on this site). Whether intentional or not, you’ve managed to adapt to what’s been proven relevant through the years, and that’s what keeps a site/business around (well, that and appropriate pricing, but you can’t get any better than free). Those are my $0.02.
