The Pursuit of Nappyness

I have failed …

… but I’m gonna claim “preggo brain‘ and keep it moving.    As I said prior, I styled my box braids most days during my trip home to the Virgin Islands, but did not take photos of all those styles. To prove a point, these photos were taken 2 weeks after the previous post … meaning I had 2 weeks of varied styles (’cause ya’ll know how I do) and ain’t took nary one photo of them styles.  The pure shame and horror. tsk tsk

Anyhoo … enjoy the couple shots I did take near the end of my trip:

Natural hair box braids

It’s simple but I figured I would still share since I did bother to take the pictures *hee* . By the end of the trip these braids were shot. I pulled them up into a high ponytail with a large Goody flex barrette.

I will now attempt to distract you from my major photo-taking failure by including this photo below with an incredible view of the hillside in St. Thomas U.S.V.I. in the background.

… and if that doesn’t work check out this amazing sunset over Mahagony Run Golf Course!

When I was in the Virgin Islands I styled my box braids most days. Unfortunately my good intentions to take photos of all those styles fell way short. Here are a few shots I did remember to take near the beginning of the trip. The front was flat twisted into a side ponytail in the back. Enjoy!

Cute huh? What do you think?

OK, waaaaaay longer ago than I’d like to admit  I was contacted by Margie, the owner of Celestial Comforter, LLC. She creates several products, including oversized shower caps that easily accommadate oversized hair LOL.  I really really REALLY love her product and strongly recommend them to everyone, not just those of us with “large” or natural hair. I have used the large sized ducky shower cap every day since last year, it is my favorite ever!

My name is Margie Cattouse, the owner of Celestial Comforter, LLC.  My product is aptly named “Celestial Crowns Shower Caps”.  I originally developed my “Shower Crowns” for an underserved, loced hair community, of which I am a proud card carrying member.  I researched in stores and on-line sites for oversized shower caps and was thoroughly underwhelmed!  What existed, lacked knowledge of, or an affinity for this particular community of potential customers…. quite simply lacked LOVE.

I decided to design a better mousetrap, making a shower cap that would be sturdier, more attractive and mindful of price.   My Crowns come in 3 different sizes, XL, L, and Mini-Crowns.

I got this sample-sized product a while ago {along with the Nourish & Shine}.  I used both products a couple months ago while traveling.

Jane Carter Solution Revitalizing Leave-In Conditioner
Jane Carter Solution Revitalizing Leave-In Conditioner

Product Name:  Jane Carter Solution Revitalizing Leave-In Conditioner
Price: Free, I had a sample
Website: JaneCarterSolution.com
Claims: “[S]eals in vital panthenol and humectants and acts as a protective barrier against heat styling and sun damage. Use it daily as a re-hydrator. Mist your hair in the morning and evening, and it’s great for flat ironing or roller setting fine hair. A “must” for every bathroom.”
Would Purchase: No

I did not like the smell or consistency of this product for my hair. I felt like it left an undesirable coating on my strands that never went away during the day. I actually watered it down during my trip and preferred the Nourish & Shine over this.

Read reviews of other Jane Carter Solution products.

So I’m perusing the most recent edition of St. Louis Magazine, when I come across this advertisement for Bumble Bumble Concen-Straight apparently being offered by Ta-Da Salon in Chesterfield Missouri. I’ve never heard of the product or the salon, but the description on the website says “A gentle yet potent, single use straightener – plus heat [...]

I‘m catching up with posts and want to share the blowdried box braids that I’ve been rocking under my wig for the past month. These photos were taken on December 20th, right after I took the “wrapped braids” down from how they were pinned up under the wig, and right before I washed them to [...]
