Social Network: Twitter. Scent: Gardenia, jasmine or vanilla. The only perfume I wear is Marc Jacobs Woman because it smells like fresh gardenias in summer! Styling Tool: My fingers and a wide-toothed comb. Clothing Brand: I’m not too big on brands or shopping, really. Since I have such a small figure, it’s hard to find clothes that fit, but I can usually find cute items at H&M, Nordstrom, Forever 21 and Target. Hair Product Brand: Kinky Curly. I use their shampoo and leave-in conditioner. I also use Tresemme Naturals conditioner for detangling. Favorite Splurge: Concert tickets, a vacation package to Jamaica or a three-course meal at a fancy restaurant. Last-Minute Gift: A card, book or bottle of wine. Takeout: Thai or Chinese. I love Asian food and it just heats up so well the next day. Goal Hair Length: I’ve never had one. I just want my hair to be cute, convenient and healthy. Travel Goal: To visit at least one new country every year. Later this summer, I’ll be exploring Italy, Spain and Greece! Reason You’re Natural: For years, I admired natural hairstyles on all the beautiful ladies I would see in DC and I just finally got up the nerve to join them. Dessert: Ice cream. Cupcakes. Peach cobbler. Sweet potato pie. I could go on and on. I have a major sweet tooth. Car: I have a black Honda Civic. It’s a great car, but I’ll love it even more when it’s paid off soon LOL. Biggest Goal: To live a meaningful life. A life full of experiences instead of “stuff.” Favorite Thing: Cooking. Give me a clean kitchen and I’ll cook all day long! Formal Hairstyle: Two-strand twists, separated and stretched. Travel Hairstyle: Wash & go afro or a scarf/turban. Daily Hairstyle: Two-strand twists, separated. Dream Event: A weeklong cooking class in Italy, Spain or Greece. Or a family reunion trip to Jamaica. Lesson Learned: The world is yours if you want it. Whatever your passion is, there is a way to pursue it – but only if you’re willing to do the work. I quit my job in 2010 to work for myself and it’s been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! Detangling Must: Tresemme Naturals conditioner and a wide-toothed comb. Great Read: Loving What Is by Byron Katie. This is one of the books that completely changed my outlook on personal and family relationships. It taught me the value of letting go and living life with no grudges and no regrets. Quote: “This is my life. It is my one time to be me. I want to experience every good thing.” – Maya Angelou Nappiversary: I big chopped on March 18, 2010! On that day, I became free.
