As promised via Instagram, I’m back with another product review, this time for
Pantene Truly Natural Hair Clarifying Shampoo, Deep Conditioner and Defining Curls Styling Custard.
Hubby and I have been using all three products for over a month. I also gave samples to a friend for additional feedback. The short version is the shampoo is great, the conditioner is a good, and the styling custard got mixed reviews.
First up let’s chat about the Truly Natural Hair Clarifying Shampoo:
While hubby never commented, both I and my friend thought the clarifying shampoo was a gentle but thorough cleanser that got our hair super clean without feeling stripped. It claims to leave “0 % unwanted residue”and I agree (although I’m not exactly sure what would be classified as “wanted residue” lol). My hair was clean but not crunchy. I definitely find myself reaching for this shampoo as my new favorite clarifier when I need to remove product buildup.
Next let us get into the Truly Natural Hair Deep Conditioner.
It claims a “72 Hour Moisture Balance” and, unfortunately, I can’t agree or disagree because I’m not sure how to measure that claim, especially when I wet my hair daily and so does my husband. Hubby liked the conditioner and said it was light and great for co-washing. It says it’s a “deep conditioner” so I’m not sure if light was the intent, but I agree. Ironically there is a co-wash cleansing conditioner available in the Truly Natural Hair product line that I did not get to try, but would be curious to see how it compares. My friend said the conditioner was ‘ok’ and did point out that her hair felt really good.
Now let’s round out this review with the Defining Curls Styling Custard.
The claim is “24 hour Frizz Control” and that is the God honest truth. So much so that my husband uses it every day to maintain his curly short fro and got a bit testy when I stole it out of the bathroom to take these photos ha!. I used it a few times to lay down my Caesar cut, and found it worked well but obviously works better on curly styles. When my hair grows out to the point of curls I do use it until I cut it short again. After trying the styling custard solo, both my husband and I agree that a separate product is needed to add moisture before applying the custard to get the best results. My husbands curls are defined and shiny every day so we will definitely be repurchasing this when the container is empty.
So would I recommend the products? Yes, with the caveats that I mentioned above.
Have you tried the Pantene Truly Natural Hair products?
