Sixteen Days

In 16 days I will no longer have a job.

At first glance that statement should scare me I suppose ย , but I’m not afraid.ย  I have been planning for this for 2 years now (not having a corporate job), anticipating it gleefully and stumbling along the way in my effort go get free from these horridย cube farms.

Am I 100% ready? No.

Are you ever 100% ready to step into the unknown? No. ย

Will I still need a traditional job? Yes ย ; preferably 1 that starts mid-late January due to upcoming travels.

Am I anxious and excited? Yes.

Am I pursuing all my “side” hustles* that I pray 1 day will converge to be 1 main hustle?ย  Absolutely.ย

I ask you guys to pray for me, I have not wanted to work in Corporate America since circa 1999…it’s been a loooooooooooong rough decade ย .ย  I pray God will continue to order my steps and direct my decisions so that I can move in the directions (because there are several) that He sends me in.

Thanks for listening (reading).ย ย

Edited in 2020 to add: WOW! It’s been over a decade since I wrote this post and I *just* started a part-time job online last week to add a some extra travel money in the mix. Other than that I’ve been working for myself as a video creator and life coach (both of which I still do). I’m amazed at how God came through. And the best part, I did turn my side hustles into my main hustle. Look at God. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ

Wow! I saw your tweet about this earlier today. Others that I’ve known that have been in similar situations (my husband, for one) have been blessed more than they ever could have imagined. It allowed him to get out of the “comfort zone” and do something that he really loves!
I will keep you in my prayers and know that you will be just fine!

    “In the futureโ€ฆ
I hope to work for myself. Iโ€™ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, but fear holds me back. But I am in a transition period where God is moving me into the plans he has had for me all along. Great things!!! Roshini”

    Hi Roshini,
I believe God has blessed and prepared you for this very moment. A new beginning. He is now beckoning you to step out on Faith!
    God Love you,
    Keishini

    Hey lady,

I was laid off on June 25t of this year and I got a job offer on October 12th. Just like you I knew it was coming so I planned accordingly and with severance pay it allowed me to handle my business as usual. As others may have mentioned sometimes being laid off can be a blessing in disguise, I will definetly keep you in my prayers and hope that GOD gives you the desires of your heart. Besides with all the hustles you have you will not be unemployed for long.
Take care and GOD bless you and yours!!!!!

    Best wishes, Ini.
My DH was let go April 15th (TAX DAY!). Anyway this event has allowed him to pursue something he’s always wanted to do. He’s happier than he’s been in years! Everything will work out just fine.

You are in my prayers. God has given you so many talents and I am positive He will lead you in the right direction and allow you to turn those talents (blessings) into a profession that you will enjoy.

Ini – you have soooo many good ideas and side hustles that could be lucrative. I see this as that extra push to force you into doing more of that work. I know you will be fine because you are smart and industrious!

    Hi,

I came across your videos on YouTube and decided to check out your blog. I can relate to how you feel — I’ve been out of work for over a year now, and I had no prior warning that it was coming. Shortly after my layoff, I got hit with some major stuff in my personal life. As a result, I put off seriously looking for a job for 6 months to work on recovering. Since then, job hunting has been mostly a miss. I’ve been told that even with my skills (I work in IT) because I’ve been out of work for a while, most recruiters will overlook me in favor of someone else who is working. So, what to do? I have been looking into working from home, or doing my own business, but procrastination and self-doubt plague me often and have kept me from really moving forward. That being said, I really don’t want to go back to corporate America either, and I’m continually asking God for guidance and direction.

    Blessings to you!

    Hi Roshini,

You are definitely in my prayers! All of your God given talents along with God’s direction will bring you where you need to be, follow your heart. And please keep us updated on what is happening, PLEASE.
