Day 11 • Eliminate a Limiting Belief
I'm not going to go through the video series a 2nd time for this assignment do-over, but I will choose to squash another limiting belief. I do use this technique more often than I thought I would when I first did the assignment. I challenge and dismantle beliefs on the regular. HA!
I'm going to deconstruct "I have to be perfect to move forward".
This belief goes like so:
"I cannot do [fill in the blank] until I can do it perfectly. There is an expected level of performance, good, or service that I must figure out and get 100% correct 100% of the time to be able to even take the first step. If I don't do this I will fail at [fill in the blank]".
I will challenge this belief as follows:
"I cannot be 100% correct 100% of the time or else I would be a robot and not a human. Since I am a human I will never get to that unachievable goal. I will always be less than 100%, always. There is no way for me to ever get better at something if I don't take the 1st step. I can spend 5 years in inertia never practicing or I can spend 5 years trying, failing, succeeding, growing and learning. At the end of the 2nd version of 5 years I will be 5 years better no matter where I started, but at the end of the 1st version I will be in the same spot AND more mentally crippled by my inability to act. Additionally if I try something and fail who cares. I'm human. Even if someone says "Hey, you failed" I'll still wake up the next morning with a brand new chance to try again and besides, that's their opinion. I can also learn if I like something by trying it. At the end of 5 years I can try 5 things if I put actions to my words/thoughts. The more I try the more I increase my chance that one of those things will actually flourish. If I were "perfect" there would be no "forward" to move to because by definition I would've attained the imaginary goal. By definition my belief contradicts itself."
There you have it.
Day 12 • Create a Vision Board
Day 13 • List 100 Things That Make You Happy
I'm not going to redo this assignment however I will point out that I continue to add to the list even now.
Day 14 • Imagine Your Perfect Day
I went to bed early and wake up early the next morning feeling clear-headed and alert. I get dressed and take a walk enjoying the quiet stillness of the morning. I get back home and I take a shower with music blasting in the bathroom then dressed. My husband and I run to IHOP/Denny's or make breakfast at home and eat out on our deck while talking. Once done, we both get to work. I answer several emails, write a few blog posts, process photos, film a couple video segments and start editing a video. I get offered a couple awesome opportunities and make phone calls to follow up. I have lunch with my hubby, toss in a load of laundry, clean up one room in my house & pack the dishwasher. I get my clothes ready for dinner later with the girls. Hubby is going skating. I spend a few more hours hard at work then eventually get dressed and head out for dinner and hang time with my friends. We eat all the sushi we want (I have a Groupon), laugh all night and don't realize how late it's getting. When I do I get home, hubby is not there yet yet so I make a cup of tea and watch some TV. I get into bed when I hear the door open and hubby announces his arrival. He snuggles in bed, we do what married people do *heh* then I go to sleep warm, cozy and happy.
How often do you have what you would consider "perfect days?"
Once a month.
What can you do to make sure you have more of them?
- Be proactive and intentional.
- Eliminate the 10 hours commuting to and working at an external job
- Prioritize my goals at the same or higher level than external jobs
Day 15 • Write Your Own Eulogy
I've simplified quite a bit since last time.
Roshini found her way. Her life was a source of inspiration, joy and light to everyone she came in contact with. She leaves behind 3 awesome children, a proud husband, and thousands of thankful benefactors to her illuminating life. Until we meet again.
Day 16 • Reflect, Comment and Connect
I'm not going to redo this assignment.
Day 17 • Find a Good Therapist
Day 18 • Spice Up Your Love Life
This is something I continually work on so I'm not sure how to re-do this challenge.
Day 19 • Get Rid of Stuff You Don't Need
Once again, this is something I do continually. I purge my closet and things so much that I often go overboard and later come up like "Where is that thing?" only for hubby to say "You gave it to Goodwill or [fill in someones name here] buster!". HA! I'll keep purging papers from my office.
Until next time Glam Fam I wish you
