Take Me To My Paradise: Tortola, BVI

The Sunday after I arrived (3/8) was pretty nondescript .  My mom had several picture frames she needed filled, you know the ones with multiple spaces in them…so I slept late, ate, chilled @ the house and spent the better part of the day digging through old albums and filling approximately 30+ empty picture frames

The next day we head to the Red Hook boat dock to catch the first ferry to Tortola, British Virgin Islands.  My parents were both born & raised there and now live there (they used to live on St. Thomas when I was born and raised  ).  I was SO SHOCKED when I pulled up and saw this:

… the ferry dock used to be a hodge podge of tiny poorly labeled wooden booths selling tickets to Lord knows where that only a local could navigate  …I always felt so bad for tourists on the dock as their eyes darted around confused   trying to figure it all out while noisy loud islanders whizzed by them busy getting where they were getting.

But now we have this   … shoo somebody tell’Him thank YUH for a a ROOF!

Here I am on the (late) boat before we set out.  I didn’t roller set a thing last night and this is what I got. The humidity made them plump up

After a nice boat ride and quick drive from the dock, Mommy & I were @ the gas station (my parents own a gas station)

and yes, this is the view

I tried to do a video while standing out here but I’m not sure if I’ll eventually post it.  First off the street behind provided its fair share of noise interrupting me and secondarily there was some dude cutting bush with a machete right below me who made me feel SUPER DUMB for standing there talking to myself into a camera I’m holding up   … and unfortunately in the Virgin Islands what he was doing is considered way more normal than what I was doing so I’m not sure the video turned out that great

Last shot is my mom’s stash of papayas…so easy to come by in the VI (and great for the skin) … I didn’t like them when I was younger but I’ve acquired a taste for them with age.

The rest of this day was spent hanging out with my dad who I don’t get to see much at all  oh and eating   … and fielding calls from family to make plans for my next couple days on Tortola …stay tuned for more & thanks for visiting!!!
